Inspection and testing of electrical installations is carried out for a number of reasons however, one paramount reason is to ensure the safety of people, property and animals. Many insurance companies are now insisting that inspection and testing is conducted on fixed wiring installations in accordance with the recommendations laid down in BS7671:2008 and Guidance Note 3. Sometimes this is not highlighted when you take out a policy and only becomes apparent when a claim is made following an electrical incident. |

| During the closed season we are
able to undertake inspection and testing of static caravan fleets with
minimal disruption. The recommended interval for inspection and testing is
every 3-5 years, however this should be more frequent for caravans that are
rented on a regular basis or for parks located closed to the harsh marine
environment. Proposed changes for the 2012 season may require motor homes and mobile caravans to produce an in-date Periodic Inspection Report prior to being allowed access to site power supplies. A full periodic inspection starts from £125 dependant on the size of the van and number of circuits. |

| Shore power aboard yachts and motor boats is usually never given a second thought, however we are well placed to conduct work and provide inspection reports on the condition of the installation. Repairs and installation work are carried out using marine grade cable (not domestic) due to the additional stresses of the moving vessel and the marine environment. Again our survey and testing can be conducted as part of a purchase survey. | |
